A body bubble

20140925--Ellen---Cucalu

“Taking a little break from work, I started hoop hunting in my garden. Nature has got plenty of shapes to offer, but this time, I couldn’t find one I really liked. So when my daughter lifted her shirt to catch some rays, I found my shape! Of course, I’m really fond of this particular circle, because half of it, is mine.” (Ellen from Middelburg, The Netherlands)

Circular tunes

24092014--Yuki---Cucalu

“Whenever I’ve got a day off, I tend to treat myself on walks through my neighborhood, the historical centre of Amsterdam. I usually start with a croissant at a Zeedijk bakery, followed by a coffee at cafe Betty’s Blue and when there’s still time left: a new edition of something at Atheneaeum, an authority on print mags. I often cross the Spui, a busy and quite touristy square. Every so often, there are book and art fairs, and.. this street organ! Although Dutch organists often play old-fashioned songs I don’t really like, the sound does make me feel at home immediately. I never thought I’d be the one to picture this Dutch phenomenon, but when I saw tourists swarming around today, I decided to join them and snap a photo, too. Not an ordinary one, of course, but one that made me look more closely to something I’ve known for 23 years.” (Yuki from Amsterdam, the Netherlands)

A classic circle

20140923---Anne-Flornce---Cucalu

“This is a statue my parents got me, after visiting Italy. They travel a lot and always try to interest me for different cultures. That’s probably why the statue goes along so well with a Moroccon jar. The statue, or marble bust, is likely to be Septime Severe, a Roman emperor. Most of the times, he’s got this beard. Before I spotted the circle, I hadn’t looked at it for a while, so my parents probably really like the rediscovery caused by my quest for circles.” (Anne-Florence from London, United Kingdom)

A flashing circle

20140922--Tineke---Cucalu

“This traffic light causes the longest wait on my daily route from The Hague’s train station. Dutch bikers usually ignore red lights, but I prefer to wait. Especially, because it’s one of the city’s busiest intersections. I see this light every day, so I notice tiny changes. For example, when a new sticker got glued to the pole. Or when an old one is removed. I see them as little chapters in a story.. that always ends with the light turning green.” (Tineke from The Hague, The Netherlands)

A sunbathing dot

20140921--Sjoerd----Cucalu

“My friends are songwriters and preferably do their work on a sunny location, which happend to be Tuscany this time. Since I’m in between jobs I decided to pay them a visit, obviously someone has to keep an eye on the pool. While my friends were busy producing music at the in-house studio, I started a little sunny shape hunt: this sunbathing ball in the water was a great start of my 48-hours mission. Unfortunately I never completed that mission, because I had to discontinue my shape hunt due to way too sunny conditions.” (Sjoerd from Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
